There are a few times when I have been at my best but the one time I was at the best I can be was during a car crash last summer. This moment was an extremely unsettling event. It's something my best friend and I will never forget and to this day, my best friend still apologizes for putting me through it.
It was sunny June day when my best friend and I went from our friend's house back to her house to get a box of brownie mix. We were driving and singing being our usual selves. We driving along on a gravel road not knowing that it had rained the night before and the gravel on top was dry but the layer beneath was not. So we are driving going the speed limit when we started swerving. We went from ditch to ditch until the car hit it just right so that we started rolling. The car rolled a total of three and a half times before landing on it's top in the ditch on top of a barbed wire fence.
I had blacked out for the actual rolling and when I came to we were upside down and she was looking at me with tears streaming down her face. (She thought I was a goner!) I looked at her and told her we needed to get out of the car. The whole time working at getting out and getting help I had stayed calm. I feel I was at my best then for it helped us to get help and to get to safety.
Later at the hospital we had tests down and it was concluded that we were fine. My best friend still constantly worrying that I would hate her for life. But all is well and me at my best was me being calm for our safety and getting everything taken care of that needed to be.

I'm glad you were both okay afterwards, especially considering how bad it COULD have ended! Did either of you walk away with any injuries (like any cuts and bruises and stuff)??
ReplyDeleteWell the airbag caused my face to swell up and i had scratches and seatbelt burns. She mostly had internal bruising!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I am so glad that you and your friend weren't seriously injured!
ReplyDeleteI've been involved in two car accidents before, and I know firsthand how hard it is to stay calm. I am really glad that you stayed calm and took control of the situation!
I'm really glad neither of you were injured! Staying calm in such a difficult situation is something not everyone can do. I'm glad you were able to keep your head on straight and help your friend!
ReplyDeleteNice first post!, so glad you got out ok except minor injures, my dad had a crash something like that, although he was probably going a lot faster, but he ended up breaking his collar bone and ribs from were the seatbelt was.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were both ok, I also know what its like to be in a car wreck and blacking out. I rolled my truck 5 times. Also glad no one was injured very badly and that you kept calm, it must have been difficult because remembering my wreck, I know that I was not as calm as i could have been. I was wanting to climb out of my truck and observe the damage but the people that were helping wouldn't let me.
